BBA TURBAN SPOTLIGHT: EAST VS EAST

They say the Turban is one of the hottest (and chicest) fashion accessories. It’s representation of sophistication has transcended time in the west, and continues to make a resurgence on style-forward women and celebrities who dare to embrace their fashion freedom. I wanted to see if this symbol from the east lived up to its enormous fashion reputation that I've been posting about on this blog for months. There’s no place else like New York’s upper east side to put this to the test. So I did. I paired my Turban (found on amazon.com) with a pre-fall ensemble: Galliano silk black gown, faux fur jacket and a pair of Christian Louboutins, and took along my friend, New York fashion photographer, Cathrine Westergaard to shoot. Verdict? It looks like the Turban is definitely forever chic.

Turban + Menswear: Will we see it on the streets?

I usually don't cover menswear but it was hard to escape Jean Paul Gaultier's latest SS2013 collection. The Indian-inspired collection made me think: would men (in particular non-Indians) wear Turbans as a fashion item? I, personally, would love to see it but it's going to take some rather metro, fashion-forward trendsetters (in NYC perhaps?) to set this off on the streets.  Then again, if men dress for women then we might be seeing it soon because the Turban is looking rather sexy.

Like ummm WOAH. So I discovered this while looking at their Indian-inspired Menswear collection (coming in the next post) and I just fell in love with every look. It's crisp and fresh yet chic and sophisticated. The nautical and le smoking themes are paired with flowy Indian draping. I can't help but think the Turban really completed the look. Love.
