BBA Editorial: Blackbook, Oct 2012

Blackbook used Marc Jacobs Fall (big hats, weird prints) and Chanel's Pre-Fall (Bombay) collections in this very fashion-forward Fall 2012 editorial. The look - dreads, hippie chic, 70s, spiritual India- is actually growing on me.

BBA Editorial: Rogue Magazine Goes East

I'm totally in love with this eastern/tribal editorial in Rogue Philippines magazine featuring Filipino model Bea Soriano. This fall is all about black and gold, my two favorite colors so I'm using this as inspiration!

BBA Picks: Paco Rabanne Fall 2012

Manish Arora gave us something to drool over with his latest collection for Paco Rabanne. The gold and silver details and liquid fabrics remind me of what we saw during Naeem Khan's show in New York but that's where the similarities end. While Khan's show focused on indian-inspired gowns with a slightly younger edge, Arora provided a variety of low hip-hugging layered looks seeped in luxury. It is a surprisingly tame collection for Arora, who's own collection debuted with a street art theme. While the theatricals are nice, it's collections like these that may help seal his fate as being a versatile designer worthy of a place in global fashion.

BBA Picks: Manish Arora Fall 2012

It seems Manish Arora and I have more in common than I first thought. We both have a love for street art. I'm a brooklynite and Manish brought Brooklyn-based Judith Supine to create the backdrop of his ramp. If that isn't dope, then how about these looks? I'm now a bigger fan, if that's possible.

Etro Fall 2012 Milan Fashion Week

The indian style motifs, beautiful burgundy, and figure-hugging cuts has me going just a little crazy for Etro.

BBA Picks: Naeem Khan Fall 2012

Naeem Khan did it again but this time he went there. In what seemed like divine intervention, I was able to witness one of my all time favorites deliver a collection that will make Naeem Khan a global name in fashion. A collection inspired by India but with the color palette of blacks, nudes and metallics, each piece looked intricately put together, and as it came down the runway it continued to stunned audiences. The collection was a deliberate departure for Khan, who wanted to showcase his talents off the red carpet. But as he jet sets to LA after his show, no doubt the stylists will be clamoring to get their hands on these. You can read more of my review here.

BBA Picks: New York Fashion Week Fall Ready-To-Wear 2012

New York Fashion Week is on fire with Brown designers. But unfortunately, they haven't been able stand out of the crowd this year (except for Naeem Khan- review coming soon). While Bibhu delivered an elegant collection on the ramp, Falguni & Shane Peacock stuck to their edgy, geometric designs. It feels as though both designers have become a little too comfortable because neither felt new or fresh. I was particularly disappointed by the Peacocks. While they received the headlines thanks to Ashanti's dress, the show was missing any form of exploration. It was their more simplistic pieces that truly got me excited. They were unexpected and welcomed by the duo.
