Trishna Red Carpet NYC

The New York screening of Trishna was held tonight and sponsored by none other than Rachel Roy, who also designed Freida's dress. While it's pretty, I like Rachel's cape look better. It's definitely more fashion-forward. 

Other brown celebs included Pooja Kumar but I could not figure out why someone would wear leggings in the middle of summer. This is an awful look. 

Ami Sheth, who supported us at our event earlier in the year, sported a colorful dress but felt a little casual for the red carpet. We hope to see her dress up more in the future!

BBA Fashion Wrap

It was an interesting week for both Indian celebs and Indian designers. While Manish Arora parted ways with Paco Rabanne, we saw J.lo rock his designs on Idol. And while Indian celebs chose carefully, the styling is getting better. It's a great time for Indian fashion and for being Indian in fashion.

Cameron Diaz in Rachel Roy, Chitrangada Singh in Rajat Tangri, Ivanka Trump in Naeem Khan, Rani Mukerji in Sabyasachi. 

I just couldn't get enough of this look.... definitely my pick of the week!

BBA Fashion Wrap Up

While there weren't any looks to swoon over, these ladies pulled it together quite well. Props to Shraddha Kapoor... while the Indian media slammed this outfit as 'too loud', it's totally up my alley.

I want to spotlight two extremes at New York Fashion Week Fall Ready-to-Wear 2012. While Rachel Roy played it extremely safe, Miguel Adrover cleverly presented an east-meets-west collection with inspiration from burqas and middle eastern fashion. Love!

BBA Style Profile: Rachel Roy

Designer Rachel Roy is a regular on the NYC fashion circuit and has had some questionable moments on the red carpet (remember the PJ debacle where she actually wore her pajamas on the red carpet? smh). Usually wearing her own designs, she does like to be a risky and stand out among her celeb peers but her recent fashion choices hasn't gained her much fashion press. While I've hardly ever been wow'd by her either, she has managed to put together some interesting fall/winter looks during the last few months in New York, starting with the Iron Lady premiere last night..

Rachel Roy Pre-Fall 2012!

We usually do a lot on the boys of NYC, (BBA darlings) Prabal and Bibhu, but we're extremely excited to cover Rachel Roy. Just revealed is her new Pre-Fall 2012 collection and we're loving the color palette! Her use of color and shapes appears to be very curve flattering. Yay for female fashion designers!
